Netflix has recently released a documentary adaptation of Nosrat’s ‘Salt Fat Acid Heat’ and food enthusiast audience as well as travel enthusiast audience really liked it. There are 4 episodes, and each of them deals with each of the basic elements of the cooking – Salt, Heat, Fire and Acid. Nosrat herself is starred and her journey around the world to unlock the mysteries of the four basic keys of cooking – Salt, Fat, Heat and Acid. In the first episode she goes to Northern Italy in second to Japan, and then Yucatan and California consecutively in the next two episodes. In Italy she savours the magical properties of olive oil, pork fat and cheese as she visits farms and helps prepare local specialties. The Japan’s trip unfolds the multifaceted roles and the profound effect that salt can have in any cooking. To illustrate the transformative power of acids, Samin visits Yucatán, where sour oranges, salsas and Mayan honey add new dimensions to every dish. And finally, Nosrat comes back to her homeland, her very dear California to experiment with heat to unlock the potentials in the ingredients she has collected all over the world.
