The crime thriller novel opens with a respected journalist and publisher, “Michael Blankovist,” of Millennium magazine. He was being convicted of defamation or libel against Hans Eric Wennerstrom, a powerful business mogul, as the trial had fallen out of favour. He went to prison for three months and paid huge sums. He decided to clear his name anyhow and wanted to prove himself innocent. After the trial followed, he received a mysterious phone call from a well-respected retired CEO, Henrik Wenger of Vanger Corporation. Without wasting a minute, the blockmist went to Wenger's house to meet him.
Wenger told him about the disappearance of his 16-year-old grandniece, Harriet Vander. Wenger wants to investigate his niece's disappearance to do so. He wants to hire Blankovist to investigate his niece's case, which happened 40 years ago, in return, he made an intriguing offer because of large compensation with proof of the innocence of Blomkvist. Blockvmist accepts the offer, delving into the dark history of the Wenger family. He finds that Harriet's disappearance has a connection with a series of gruesome murders that have been haunting the Wenger family for decades.
As a further investigation, he is convinced that someone within the family is the culprit, but it's challenging to identify the culprit. Along the journey of solving the case, Blankvoist enlists the help of Elizabeth Slander with a traumatic past. Elizabeth Slander was an orthodox young lady with a photogenic memory. She has computer skills and a mastery of hacking. Both of their paths cross with each other as Blankmvoist wants to solve the mystery, and Elizabeth wants her personal revenge on society and laws. They become entangled in Mikael's investigation and uncover a series of revelations.
Blankvoist and slander form an unbreakable partnership as they uncover clues, decipher cryptic messages and navigate a labyrinthine plot. Their investigation leads them to encounter a series of unsolved murders and heinous crimes against women. They face life threats and dangers from influential people who go to lengths to keep their secrets. Together, they solve the disappearance of Harriet Venger and the unrevealed truth behind the Venger family's corruption. Blankvoist is a journalist and publisher of the Millennium magazine. He is in love with editor-in-chief Erika Berger of Millennium and is having an affair with her. He was being accused of false treason and wanted to prove his innocence. Blankvoist has a strong personality and makes much more contributions to the main plot of the storyline. He uncovers the truth behind the Harriet Venger case, a long-awaited case which has been closed for 40 years, which leads to the reveal of the identity of a sadistic killer who hates women and kills them.
Henrik Wenger
Henrik Wenger was the Retired CEO of Venger Corporation. He was 44 years old and wanted to find out the truth behind his grandniece's disappearance, who disappeared 40 years ago without any trace.
Elizabeth slander
Elizabeth is the protagonist of the novel. She was an orthodox woman with piercings and tattoos, a photogenic memory, and genius hacking skills. Her personality is enigmatic and socially awkward. Elizabeth has a traumatic past, she was raped by his foster father. She is going through a lot in her life. She is challenging Swedish society and fighting against those who wronged her. She helps Michael to solve the mysterious case.
